Jacqueline McAdam holds a B.A. and M.A. from the School of Child and Youth care at the University of Victoria, an M.A. in Human and Organizational Systems, a Ph.D. in Human Development. For the first ten years of her career she worked as a counsellor with youth at risk and families in crisis. In the early 90s she began working in Africa, specifically in Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, as an independent consultant for the United Nations and various non-government organizations. Her doctoral research focuses on the factors that enhance coping with and adaptation for children from war zones. Jacqueline presently teaches at the University of Victoria, and manages the development of Hakuna Matata Imports and Accessories, and her consultancy practice Resilient Solutions, in the midst of parenting two teenage children and walking the dog.
